Team Draft

After evaluations, coaches will draft teams using the new online draft system designed to ensure:

  • Balanced teams across skill levels
  • Better development opportunities for all players

Coaches’ Sons and Fair Drafting

  • Head Coach and Assistant Coach children will be ranked and drafted based on their evaluation scores, just like all other players.
  • Their evaluation results determine when they can be selected in the draft.
    • Example:
      • If the Assistant Coach’s child earns a 7 (top score), they count as a 1st-round pick.
      • If the Head Coach’s child earns a 3, they may be selected later in the draft.
  • A note will be added next to their name in the draft system to ensure transparency and fairness during team formation.

Siblings

  • Siblings must be drafted on the same team
  • Their evaluation scores will be considered together to determine an appropriate combined draft position.

Example: Sibling A is a 7 and sibling B is a 2, Sibling A would be a first round and sibling B would be a late round pick but must be drafted by same team

  • Notes identifying sibling pairs will appear in the draft portal for clarity.

Trades

  • Trades are allowed between teams after the draft.
  • All trades must be:
    • Mutually agreed upon by both Head Coaches involved, and
    • Reviewed and approved by league administrators to confirm balance and fairness.
  • The league will only process trades once both coaches formally confirm the agreement.
  • Trades should be limited and used only when necessary to correct roster balance or address special circumstances.
  • Trade window ends 24 hours after the draft.

Late Sign-Ups

  • Players who register after evaluations and the draft will be added using a fair and consistent system.
  • Late sign-ups will be assigned to the team that holds the next draft pick in their division, helping maintain balanced rosters.
  • League staff will manage these additions to ensure parity across teams.

Player Evaluation Guidelines

Coach Attendance

All coaches should attend player evaluations when possible.
Each coach will follow their assigned group through the three evaluation stations listed below.

Coaches Draft picks will be randomly selected.

1. 10-Yard There-and-Back Wind Sprint

Purpose: Measure player speed and agility.
Instructions:

  • Player sprints 10 yards down and 10 yards back (20 yards total).
  • Record the total time.
    Scoring: Rate 1–7 (7 = strongest performance).

2. Throwing Station

Purpose: Assess throwing mechanics and accuracy.
Instructions:

  • Observe form, distance, and target consistency.
Scoring: Rate 1–7 (7 = best mechanics and accuracy).
  • K1/ & 2/3 5yd & 10yd
  • 4/5 & 6/8 7yd & 15yd

3. Catching Station

Purpose: Evaluate hand–eye coordination and consistency.
Instructions:

  • Observe catching technique, reaction time, and reliability.
Scoring: Rate 1–7 (7 = excellent coordination and consistency).
  • Will have a diagram of the Station at the evaluation

Scoring & Ranking

  • Each coach scores players individually at each station.
  • After all drills, coaches meet together to agree on a final consensus score for each player.

Example:

  • Bill gives Player 1 a 3/7
  • Jacob gives Player 1 a 5/7
  • Final agreed score = 4/7

Data Entry

Once scores are finalized:

  • The evaluation lead uploads results into the online draft portal.
  • Along with performance scores, the following information will be included:
    • School
    • Grade
    • Age
    • Buddy Request (optional; not guaranteed)
    • Coach Relationship Note (if applicable) – identifies if a player is a coach’s child for fairness in draft order.
    • Sibling Link Note (if applicable) – flags sibling pairs who must be drafted together.

This ensures teams are created fairly, even when coaches are unfamiliar with certain players.

End-of-Season Evaluations

  • At the end of each season, coaches will complete evaluations for every player on their team.
  • These will include brief notes on:
    • Skill development and progress
    • Effort and attitude
    • General ability level (1–7 scale for consistency)
  • This data will be stored and used as background information for future drafts and evaluations.

Overall Goal

  • Every player makes a team — no cuts.
  • Teams are structured to keep the league fun, fair, and competitive for everyone.
  • Evaluations are non-competitive and exist solely to group players by skill and experience, ensuring a great season for all.
